![]() ![]() I ended copying the file into the folder path where the rest of my music files resides. I first tried to add the file via iTunes using Add To Library but that did not work. I downloaded the DSD file from Acoustic Sounds. This could be nothing but I thought I'd raise the questions anyway. My questions about changing filter options stemmed from info I received about setting filters based on the recording equipment that was used and how a file was created etc. I agree 100% about keeping an original version of one's files. However, this is an advanced user feature. it is possible to have multiple configurations for different types of content. Since each zone can have complety independent playback settings, output devices, etc. I should mention that you could tag files in the library and then use ZoneSwitch to apply different DSP settings (low pass or anything else) based on tags. Change the frequency in Analyzer at the bottom right to something like 100k so you can see high enough. It'll also help you understand how much junk is in DSD at high frequencies if you disable the low-pass (only for testing!). Looking at DSP Studio > Analyzer is interesting because it shows you what's being sent with regards to frequency. ![]() I suppose if your DAC doesn't do that, you could let more of the noise go through. We use a conservative filter (24kHz) by default because some DACs exhibit strong audible distortion when ultra-sonic noise is allowed through. However, I'm also not sure why you'd want to be changing it often? In theory you're only removing ultra-sonic noise. With regards to the low-pass, you're right that it's a little cumbersome to switch. As soon as you save a change into a file, there's no going back. This way you retain the ability to change your mind, change your equipment, and to leverage the latest and highest quality signal processing technology. I'm a believer in storing the highest quality original and performing any processing at playback time. #DSP QUATTRO WAVE OR AIFF OFFLINE#Isn't this one reason to convert offline? Configuring the low-pass filter based on a group of albums or tracks can't be done if converting on the fly can it? For example if I want low-pass setting A for Albums 1, 2, and 3, but low-pass setting B for albums 4,5, and 6, can this be configured to work on the fly or must I convert offline using the separate low-pass settings? ![]()
